On the Move

  • Getting High and Governors Island

Day 9 NYC I was on my own today as Shirley had online meetings to attend so I purchased a ticket for the One World Observatory atop the Freedom Tower. On my way there, I passed through the 9/11 memorial park.

  • Hadestown, the Cloisters and the NY Botanical Garden

Day 7 NYC A quiet day today. My left knee is complaining about having to climb down stairs (though it’s happy to climb up and to walk downhill) so I decided to give it a little break. Shirley has joined me for a few days, hurrah! This afternoon we went to Hadestown at the Walter…

  • Little Italy and Chinatown

Day 4 NYC. What an amazing stroke of luck that I chose to visit Little Italy today! Today was the last day of the Feast of San Gennaro Festival. Several blocks of Mulberry Street were blocked off so all manner of things Italian could be exhibited and served and enjoyed.

  • Midtown continued and Riverside Park

At the end of my last post, I left you looking at the United Nations from a distance. As I couldn’t get any closer, there was nothing to do but head home. My walk back to the upper west side took me along Fifth Avenue with its upscale stores.
