On the Move

Kalakho Days 1 and 2: camels and cricket

We have left towns and villages behind and have come to Dera Lake View Resort somewhere near Kalakho.  The Travelpod map doesn’t recognize Kalakho (and neither do I in terms of geography) so I’m not sure where we are!

We are so far away from everything that I have to use the Resort manager’s laptop on a mobile wireless connection to write to you.  Therefore this will be short.

We are going camel riding shortly to a village a half hour camel’s pace away to commune with the villagers.  I’m a little short on details, though I’ve been advised to wear camel pants – those that are already dirty.  🙂

Over the next couple of days we will take part in traditional Hindu dancing, learn to play cricket, visit historic step wells, and if we feel adventuresome trek out into the neighbouring hills to practise avoiding snakes.  I may choose to read instead!

I will have a lot to share when I get to Jaipur the day after tomorrow.  In the meantime I shall lock the door of the little cabin where I am staying to make sure no long wriggly reptiles join me in my sleep!
