We left Hotel Buena Vista this morning following an excellent photography tutorial, and headed north toward the Caribbean lowlands – hot, humid and very lush. Our eventual destination was Selva Verde Lodge, an eco-tourism resort shown as location 2 on the map of two days ago.
An hour or so from San Jose, the driver stopped the bus and we all piled out to shoot landscapes. I was taken by this tree on a hillside. I hope you are too!

Our first scheduled stop was the La Paz Waterfall Gardens that, it turns out, is much more than a garden. It is a refuge for rescued birds and animals, it has a large butterfly farm, and it attracts hundreds of hummingbirds – more than enough to keep us happily shooting for a few hours. The rescued birds were in large enclosures so occasionally you’ll see the grid of a cage in my photos.

I have created collages with many of my photos but am adding some of the more exotic and interesting at the end. We have an early start tomorrow so I shall be brief this evening. I hope you enjoy my photos!
