Tis the season to couch surf and I am about to take full advantage of it. Cambridge, England, Berlin, Germany and the Hamptons in New York are all beckoning me and, serendipitously, I have friends and/or family in each location. What could be better?

Cambridge. Home to:
- the University of Cambridge with its medieval churches (be still my fluttering heart!)
- the River Cam (punting under the Bridge of Sighs anyone?)
- well not quite home to, but pretty close to Grantchester (any other Grantchester and James Norton fans out there?)
and temporary home to my fine friend Joan Bryans. May she not regret her invitation.

Berlin. Home to:
- Museum Island with its many museums, squares and parks (Neues and Pergamonmuseum here I come!)
- the Brandenberg Gate, the remains of the Berlin Wall and the city’s WWII relics (my modern European history itch will surely be scratched)
- a meal of classic curryworst (am I adventurous enough?)
and home to another fine friend Jutta Wohlraib, my home exchange partner who speaks many languages and puts my three words in German to shame.

The Hamptons. Home to:
- sand, sea and sunshine (can one ever get enough?)
- striking distance to the US Tennis Open (I may finally learn the rules 🙂 )
- lots of celebrities (will I see/recognize any? do I care?)
and temporary home to my especially fine sister Shirley Tilghman. And best of all, my visit will overlap briefly with her children’s families. Yay! Family photos!
I have added a photograph gallery to this website with lots of photos I have taken over the past few years. Check it out!
See you in Cambridge!
