Any of you who follow Grantchester on PBS will recognize a few of the locations in my photos. Joan and I found the church – the Church of St. Andrew and St. Mary’s – in the village of Grantchester.

We also found a poem written by one of the 1000 village extras used on various programs.
Joan and I lunched in the Red Lion pub which, if not the pub used in the TV series, bore a remarkable resemblance to it.

We wandered along the River Cam which features in the series. Sadly we didn’t see anyone famous. I had of course thought James Norton would be waiting to welcome me …

Upon our return to Cambridge we decided to let someone else do the heavy work associated with touring, and enjoyed a punt. Our driver/puntster/oarsman/poler (??) regaled us with the history of Cambridge and every college we passed along the way. Rather than make things easy for you, I’ll let you Google the colleges and bridges in my photos and learn for yourselves the fascinating past we discovered today.
Walking home from the river, we passed Peterhouse, the oldest college in Cambridge and one of the few with grounds still open to the public. It must be a lovely place to study. It felt so quiet and peaceful.
