On the Move

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. African proverb

Elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and buffalo – the big five photographic beasts – and more! Such wondrous wildlife and soooo photogenic. I can hardly wait to shoot them.

I am travelling to Kenya and Tanzania with my friends, Dianne and Carroll, who you may remember from my trips to Costa Rica, the Grand Canyon and the Reno hot air balloon race. There will be 15 other photographers plus our leader and several guides. We shall be going far, together.

Paul Renner, our leader and the owner of Renner Safaris, has led 75 photo safaris to east Africa. If you check out his website you can see lots of his fabulous photos.

It will be several days yet before I lay eyes on wild animals. I am stopping over for two nights in London – I am the happy holder of a ticket to The Play That Goes Wrong. Friends assure me this play is hilarious and will counteract any time-zone-change urges to doze.

It takes a full day to fly from London to Nairobi, then another to transfer to Arusha, Tanzania at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The schedule has us spending a second day in the Arusha area in jet lag recovery mode during which time I do not plan to climb the famous mount. Finally, six days into my trip I will go on a game drive, excited to shoot some wildlife and share some photos with you whenever internet connections allow. I hope you will enjoy them.

Tutaonana baadaye!
