On the Move

I may be nuts …

I may be nuts …
Pacific Coast route

Now might not seem like the ideal time to embark on a road trip from Vancouver to San Francisco, but the time has come to take a deep breath and head on out. My daughter and her family are in need of an extra pair of hands and some spice in their life (πŸ™ƒ), and I am in need of big hugs from my grandsons!

I am flying to Seattle as the land border is closed to folk like me, then renting a car for the four-day drive along the Pacific Coast highway. I am taking it slow to allow plenty of time for photographs along the way, stopping at Seaside and Coos Bay in Oregon, and Eureka and Gualala in northern California.

I hope no one takes me for a bank robber!

I am travelling fully equipped – I hope! – with masks, disposable gloves (πŸ₯΄), hand sanitizer and wipes to use with sanitizer on hard surfaces. I am staying at hotels that prominently display their sanitizing protocals but will wipe everything down anyway. And between my sunglasses and a mask, there is very little of my face left showing.

I tested negative for COVID-19 a couple of days ago, and will be tested in San Francisco the day after I arrive. Quarantining is not required by California, but I will continue to wear a mask until my second set of negative test results are in. I will have to quarantine upon my return on August 23rd, so have stocked my freezer and cupboards with essentials, and grocery delivery andΒ  my wonderfully generous friends will keep me supplied with produce.

Wish me luck! See you tomorrow from Seaside.

Good luck with your trip. Enjoy your family and stay safe. The drive from San Francisco to Vancouver is on my bucket list, post covid and post Trump.

    Did I say stay safe?

Lynnea, how lovely to hear from you! Thanks for your kind wishes. This has been a very lonely time in spite of my wonderful friends here in Vancouver. I hope you are well.

Safe travels! I hope you will be blogging while on your trip. I also hope Canada will let you back in.
I did’t realize the US/Canadian land border was closed. I can’t figure out why land is not okay but flight is?!
Enjoy your visit. I hope things are better at PG&E. I don’t get regular reports now that Greg is no longer working there.

Thanks Shelley! I know, it doesn’t make sense to close the land border but not the sky border, but there you are. I can come home but must submit isolation plans to both federal and provincial government when I return. Apparently the local and federal police check on you occasionally, asking if you need anything. I will probably need someone to take my garbage out! πŸ˜‰
