On the Move

Vermont – St. Johnsbury Area

Three days ago I rented a car in Boston and drove four hours to the Burlington, VT area for the start of my photography tour. Since then we have been so busy that I have barely had time to sit down to write.

I now have a short break and having processed the photos from the past two days, I am ready to share them with you.

We left Burlington (at 5:15 am!) in western Vermont yesterday morning and headed for St. Johnsbury in the eastern part of the state, stopping to shoot a sunrise. We also photographed a lovely church near Stowe and a covered bridge before heading out to capture the sunset. The sunrise was a little disappointing as it was sprinkling. However, the sprinkles stopped and the sun peeked through occasionally. But it was cold, especially when the wind picked up. None of us had anticipated how cold it would be.

Today we got to sleep in. Instead of leaving at 5:15 am, we left at 5:45 am to shoot the sunrise. After brunch we visited Mountainview Animal Sanctuary. We didn’t see any animals, but the location was lovely.

This evening we headed to another location to photograph the sunset, and then a surprise stop to shoot the Milky Way. That was indeed fun! The photo should open in a larger format if you click on it.

Tomorrow, after shooting sunrise again, we are heading south to Rutland. I hope to see you then.

One of my dad‘s aunts lived in St, Johnsbury but unfortunately I never met her.
i thought there might be more red leaves. In any case, your photos are beautiful, as always.

    I miss food reports.

    Thanks so much for sharing.

I thought there would be more red too. There’s a bit more red where we’re going next.

I miss the food reports too! This tour is all about photos so the food, which is good, is not necessarily visually appealing. In fact several times we picked up food to eat outside or in our rooms.

Beautiful! I was just back in Ontario for autumn for the first time in forever and changing leaves are really something special. Glad the timing worked out for you! – Derek

Thanks Tracey. I spoke with the owner of a photographic art gallery who said this year has been unusually great for foliage. And we have been lucky with the weather.
