Last spring, my friend Terry sent me a link to an article entitled “Retire Here, Not There: Ecuador” (marketwatch.com/story/retire-here-not-there-ecuador-2013-05-13?pagenumber=1) The section on Cuenca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, particularly interested me and I began reading more about this picturesque city known also for its lively arts and culture scene.

It was only a small leap from reading to enrolling in my third Road Scholar tour – Amazon to the Galápagos: The Complete Ecuador Experience. (http://www.roadscholar.org) I am leaving on Tuesday, excited both to be part of another tour and to experience the wonders of Ecuador.
